Why we do this? Ever since my brothers and I were young it was a special treat to decorate our house for Christmas. We would become joyous at the thought of accompanying our Mom and Dad onto the roof to set up (what felt like at the time) thousands of lights. We did this every year until tragedy struck us in 2004. We lost our Dad in November to a severe heart attack, Christmas had never seemed so blue. That was the first year we did not decorate the house in many years. However, slowly, month after month, year after year, we began to realize that he was still there with us, guiding us in his very own way. In 2007 we finally started to light up the house again, but this time in a different way. Bigger, Brighter, and Better. Just the way our Dad would have wanted it.
This tragedy taught my family something very important, show your loved ones how much they mean to you every day and never take them for granted. That is why we put on our light show every year, to watch families faces light up at the site of 30,000+ lights dancing to music. Hopefully bringing them closer to each other as every second passes by. We want to give children something great to remember about Christmas, because it really is a magical time of the year!
